I believe art and design education should be about more than creating a strong portfolio. The real work is learning how to observe closely, ask meaningful questions, experiment with purpose, and develop the confidence to make independent decisions.
My approach is rooted in the studio. Students learn through making, testing, discussing, reflecting, and trying again. My role is not to prescribe an answer, but to know when to guide, when to challenge, and when to give students the space to discover something for themselves.
At LISAC, students are encouraged to explore across disciplines, materials, and ideas. What matters is not that their work looks a certain way, but that they begin to understand why they make what they make and develop a creative voice that is genuinely their own.
A strong portfolio grows from that process. More importantly, so does an independent thinker and maker.
